Who is the alpha dog in your family? If it is not you, your dog will take the position on himself. An alpha dog is not always male, in a dog pack the gender does not matter. If the position of alpha dog is left vacant a female dog will assume the role of alpha leader. A dog that has taken on the role of the alpha dog leader can make living within the bounds of a human family intolerable.
